Although a little tardy due to the time warp of Christmas and New Year, we wanted to do a write-up on a beautiful Christmas event from the Rye Chamber of Commerce hosted by the Mermaid Inn.
This took place on the 13th of December in the Tudor room and was a lovely celebration of another year in business and particularly nice for those of us who are small businesses/self-employed, so do not have a large, swanky Christmas event.

We were greeted with a glass of Bucks Fizz and a gorgeous spread of food while Jacob Willoughby grand piano played. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. As the evening went on we were treated to some singing by Sally Bayly and later on, some pianoke which mostly featured the Chambers very own Jane Brook and a rendition or two from Dezi Dalton: all great fun and a brilliant start to the Christmas wind down.

Thank you to Martin and Judith for their hospitality and to the staff at the Mermaid, who were so attentive and friendly. Thank you to KT Bruce for coming along and taking photos despite recovering from a nasty chest infection! She is a trooper and never fails to amaze us with how generous and dedicated she is to Rye and the people in it.

Lastly, a massive thank you to Jane, Sarah and Elise, who have well and truly changed our opinions of Chambers. Our experience of these in the past has not been positive, but the chamber that these ladies have created is one that is welcoming, diverse, actually FUN and brings results. We have made so many friends and acquaintances since being members of the chamber, and we look forward to supporting them, working with them and partying with them in 2024!
